POD: We need Bags to Gather Snow to add to our Snow Fort!

It was a cold Monday morning after a long weekend for students, so we began the day with an indoor recess before settling in to get down to work.

We started with our regular morning routine.
Our spelling focus this week is compound words: bedbug, hotdog, sunset, and backpack.
Our dictated sentence was: He likes to walk by himself.
Our show-not-tell prompt was: He loves to sing.
We followed this with our Hagerty listening games and our maze, which everyone tackled with good focus.

We also spent time working on our Christmas concert lyrics and practicing our songs. There is still lots of work ahead, but we are off to a great start.

In math, we reviewed:
– telling time,
– arrays,
– and adding numbers with regrouping.

After another indoor recess, we headed downstairs for music, where we practiced our boomwhackers.
For PE, we began the week with floor hockey, which brought lots of excitement and energy.

Lunch gave us a chance to warm up, and although we went outside for a bit, it was too cold to stay out long, so we came in early and ended up with a very intense game of Jenga. The cheering could probably be heard down the hall.

In the afternoon, we did some writing, then headed to social studies with Ms. Doucette, where we built structures designed to withstand an earthquake. Some were sturdy… others not so much, but it was a fun experiment.

We finished off the day in the K–1 room to practice the songs we will be singing together for the Christmas concert. There’s lots to polish, but the kids are excited and working hard.

The temperature is staying low, so please make sure to dress warm.
Get lots of sleep tonight, and I will see you tomorrow!
