POD: School performance during Remembrance Day Cermony
We started the morning by coming straight inside, since everyone was dressed up so nicely for Remembrance Day—hair styled, clothes pressed, and poppies proudly displayed.
We began our regular routine with our spelling words: eight, nine, five, and four. Our “Show, Not Tell” sentence was “She was well-behaved for the Remembrance Day ceremony,” and our dictated sentence was “He had bunches of snacks.” We also completed our maze and Heggerty listening games before moving into writing.
During our writing program, we focused on forming questions—starting with a capital letter and ending with the correct punctuation mark. Everyone is getting better at remembering both!
In math, we reviewed representing numbers and then looked a little deeper into Canadian coins and their values. It’s always fun when math connects to real-world things we use every day.
Because of the weather, recess was indoors, but that didn’t stop us from having a great morning. Afterwards, we went downstairs for our Remembrance Day ceremony. Thank you to all the families and guests who attended—we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. The students were respectful, focused, and made Napan proud.
Lunch was extra special today—we had pizza, and the sun came out just in time for a bit of fresh air outside. After lunch, we did a quiet read to self before heading back to the gym for our end-of-month assembly.
We finished the day by writing our own books, a project the students are very excited about! Then we packed up, signed our home-to-school books, and got ready to head home for a well-earned break.
There is no school for students on Monday or Tuesday, so enjoy the long weekend, Cubs! Rest up, have fun, and I’ll see you all on Wednesday!
