POD: Working with our JMH Reading Mentor

It was another chilly morning today—hats and mitts are definitely needed when waiting for the bus or heading outside!

I was in the office this morning for Ms. Brown, and we were lucky once again to have Mrs. Hill helping out in the classroom. She always does a wonderful job keeping everyone focused and ready to learn.

Our spelling words today were 1, 11, 100, and 1000, and our “Show, Not Tell” sentence was “She loved the kitten.” We also worked through our maze and completed our Heggerty listening drills to start the day.

In math, we continued learning about breaking objects into equal parts of a whole as we begin exploring fractions. Everyone is doing a great job understanding that equal parts make things fair and balanced.

After recess, our JMH mentors joined us again. They worked with students in small groups as we begin to solidify our mentor teams moving forward.

PE was a busy one today! We did a challenging workout followed by some Halloween dances to get into the spooky spirit.

After lunch, we settled in for a quiet read to self before spending some time on our Reading Park app. It’s great to see students becoming more confident and independent readers.

With Ms. Doucet, we worked in our weather journals and did a big review of all the vocabulary and terms we’ve learned so far—I wonder if that means a quiz might be coming up soon?

We ended our day by writing in our Book of Gratitude, signing our home-to-school books, and enjoying a few minutes of free choice before the buses arrived.

Finally, good luck to our cross-country runners competing at French Fort Cove tonight—run hard and make us proud, Cubs!
