POD: Learning About the River System

Today started off as a beautiful morning. Students hopped off the buses excited to play on the playground and enjoy the breakfast program before coming inside to begin our day.

We settled into our regular routine right away. Our spelling words were mail, clay, paint, and birthday. Our UFLI sentence was, “In May, I will bake fish.” We are continuing to work on the long A sound and when to use AI and AY. We also wrote a detailed sentence about a rink, completed our Heggerty listening games, and finished our maze. Before moving on, we took a few minutes to tidy up our book boxes and desks. A clean space helps a clear mind.

In math, we worked on our multiplication stories and mixed in addition and subtraction problems. We are practicing slowing down and carefully looking at the operation before we solve.

For guidance, we headed outside for a walk with Mrs. Hill. She also joined us for some Phys. Ed., where we played tail snatch and stayed active.

After lunch, we completed our Read to Self, Reading Park, and Write to Self routines. Our Grade 2 students practiced logging in using their own credentials on the computers—great independence skills!

With Mr. Comeau, we continued working on our river system project. We are learning how rivers connect and why they are important to our community.

We wrapped up the day by reading from Captain Underpants, where Mr. Krupp was hypnotized—always an exciting chapter. We watched a French video about clothing and finished with our Book of Gratitude prompt:
“One thing I did well today was…”

We packed up, signed our home-to-school books, and headed out.

The Grade 3–5 team has their last home game tomorrow and a jamboree at Dr. Losier on Thursday. It’s going to be a busy week, so get lots of rest and be ready to roll!
